Terms of Service
Updated: 12 September 2026.
These terms explain the rules for using ApprenticeOne and our responsibilities to each other. By registering, you agree to these terms and our Community Guidelines. Acceptable-use rules also apply to visitors.
If you are under 18, we encourage you to read these terms with a parent, carer or trusted adult. Contact us if anything is unclear. Your rights and protections under applicable law, including those relating to your age, remain unaffected.
1. Who we are

2. About ApprenticeOne
ApprenticeOne is a community for aspiring and current apprentices and others interested in UK apprenticeships. It provides discussions, direct messages and resources such as guides, articles and news.
Member contributions reflect their own experiences and opinions. Our resources provide general information, not advice tailored to your circumstances. Check important application, employment and training information with the relevant organisation or official source.
An account or contribution does not establish that someone is a verified employer, qualified adviser or authorised representative. We do not guarantee an interview, apprenticeship, job or other outcome. Employment, training and application arrangements are with the relevant organisation unless we expressly agree otherwise.
3. Eligibility and your account
You must be 13 or over. Give an accurate date of birth and do not misrepresent your age to avoid restrictions or protections. Your date of birth and under-18 status are not displayed publicly. We may suspend a suspected under-13 account while checking it and close it if confirmed, handling its information under the Privacy Policy.
Provide accurate registration information and keep your contact details up to date. You may use a username that does not identify you. Do not impersonate others or claim affiliations or qualifications you do not have.
You may have one active personal account unless we authorise an exception. Organisational and administrative accounts require our agreement. Do not create accounts to evade restrictions or manipulate discussions.
Keep your login details secure, do not share your personal account and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorised access. You are responsible for your own use and reasonable account-security precautions. This does not make you automatically liable for someone else’s unauthorised acts or remove our security responsibilities.
4. Acceptable use
Follow the Community Guidelines throughout ApprenticeOne, including in direct messages and uploads. You must not:
- Share illegal content, threats, harassment, hate speech, discriminatory abuse or material that infringes privacy or intellectual property rights.
- Groom, exploit, sexually solicit or endanger a child or another member; share child sexual abuse material, intimate images without consent or sexualised fabrications of a person.
- Publish pornography or content that depicts, promotes, encourages or glorifies suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. Supportive, non-graphic discussion is allowed within the Guidelines.
- Exchange personal contact details in member conversations, pressure people for private information, or try to move conversations with younger members to private channels or external platforms.
- Post scams, fraudulent opportunities, malware, unsolicited advertising or affiliate links, harvest personal data, or recruit people into unsafe arrangements.
- Knowingly present false information as fact, falsely imply our endorsement, or disclose confidential employer information or assessment materials without permission.
- Bypass access controls or moderation restrictions, interfere with the service or place an unreasonable load on it.
- Use unauthorised bots or scrapers to collect content or member data, or automated accounts to mislead members. Accessibility tools, authorised integrations and search-engine indexing consistent with our published crawler instructions are permitted.
Necessary information supplied privately to authorised staff for support, safeguarding or a data-rights request is handled under the Privacy Policy.
Employers and training providers must obtain our agreement before promoting their services. Partnership approval does not permit unsolicited personal messages or unrestricted access to member data.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of content you create and must have permission to share anything you submit. Public contributions can be read or copied by people outside the community.
You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, back up, reproduce, format, display and deliver your content as needed to operate ApprenticeOne. This includes making it available to its intended audience, sending requested notifications, maintaining discussions and moderating content. Service providers may handle it on our behalf for those purposes.
This licence does not permit us to publish your direct messages publicly or use them in advertising. We seek separate permission where appropriate for promotional use of identifiable stories, photographs or testimonials, with additional protections for children.
The licence lasts only for the purposes and periods needed to operate the service and retain content lawfully. Public contributions may remain after account closure, normally with their account connection removed or anonymised. Retained content remains covered only for those limited purposes, including necessary backups, safeguarding and legal records.
Your data-protection rights still apply. The Privacy Policy explains deletion and anonymisation. We cannot guarantee removal of copies made independently outside our control.
6. Direct messages
Members can send one-to-one direct messages. The Community Guidelines apply to these conversations. You do not have to answer or continue an unwanted conversation; report concerning contact using the message-reporting tools or safeguarding@apprenticeone.co.uk.
Messages are stored on our servers and are not end-to-end encrypted. Recipients can copy or disclose them, so do not use them to exchange passwords, payment details or other sensitive information.
We do not routinely read direct messages. Authorised staff may access them when reported, where there are reasonable grounds to suspect illegal content or a safeguarding risk, or where required by law or a court order. The Privacy Policy explains access, retention and lawful sharing.
7. Moderation, reports and appeals
How we moderate
We use member reports, staff review, age and privacy settings, and content and account restrictions to prevent and address harmful behaviour. We prioritise immediate danger and risks to children, may restrict content or accounts during investigation, and act swiftly to remove illegal content when we become aware of it.
We do not review every contribution before publication or promise continuous monitoring. Our legal safety duties still apply.
Depending on severity, repetition and risk, we may warn a member, move or redact content, remove it, restrict features, suspend an account or permanently ban it. We act reasonably and proportionately, taking account of safety, privacy and freedom of expression.
Urgent protective action may happen without advance notice. Where appropriate and lawful, we explain our decision and how to seek review. We may withhold details to protect someone, another person’s privacy or an investigation.
Reporting and complaints
Use the Flag/report control on a post or message, or email legal@apprenticeone.co.uk. Use safeguarding@apprenticeone.co.uk for safety concerns. Email reporting is available to non-members and anyone unable to sign in.
You can report illegal or harmful content, unwanted contact, suspected underage accounts, problems with reporting tools, or concerns about our safety measures. You can also complain about report handling, restrictions on your content or account, or effects on your privacy or freedom of expression.
Include the relevant link or username, a brief explanation and any earlier reference. You may ask a trusted person to help. Do not download or forward suspected child sexual abuse imagery; report its location.
Appeals and outcomes
We assess reports and complaints, investigate proportionately and explain outcomes as far as safety and privacy allow. To appeal a moderation decision, email legal@apprenticeone.co.uk with your reasons. Where practicable, someone other than the original decision-maker reviews it. We consider appeals fairly and correct mistakes where possible.
Safety reports are prioritised by urgency. We respond to other complaints and appeals without undue delay and explain if more time is needed. Privacy complaints and data-rights requests follow the separate timeframes in the Privacy Policy.
You remain free to approach a regulator or court. You may have a breach-of-contract claim if we restrict your content or account contrary to these terms.
Referrals
We may share necessary information with police, social care or another appropriate authority where lawful and justified, including without consent or prior notice where necessary. We make legally required reports of detected child sexual exploitation and abuse content to the National Crime Agency. Our Safeguarding Policy explains this process for members.
8. Our content and external services
Our branding and editorial resources are owned by or licensed to APPRENTICEONE LTD. You may use resources for your own learning and link to public pages. Further copying or commercial reuse requires permission unless a stated licence or the law permits it. Third-party and open-source rights remain with their owners.
External websites, vacancies and services have their own terms and privacy practices. A link does not guarantee accuracy or suitability. To report intellectual property infringement, email legal@apprenticeone.co.uk with the relevant link, rights concerned and information needed to investigate.
9. Privacy and commercial choices
Our Privacy Policy explains personal-data use and our Cookie Policy explains device storage and choices. Accepting these terms does not authorise optional tracking, marketing or sharing with commercial partners.
Personalised sponsored opportunities and marketing emails require separate optional choices, as explained in the Privacy Policy. Declining or withdrawing either does not prevent ordinary use of ApprenticeOne. Displaying or interacting with sponsored content does not itself authorise disclosure of your identity, contact details or interests to a sponsor. The Privacy Policy’s additional protections for under-18s apply.
10. Availability and responsibility for loss
Access may be interrupted by maintenance, technical problems or events outside our reasonable control. We may change features or restrict access for genuine operational, safety, security or legal reasons, giving reasonable notice of significant changes where practicable.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or suitability of member content or external resources. This does not exclude responsibility the law places on us.
If we breach these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by that failure. Loss is foreseeable if it is obvious it will happen or, when the agreement was made, both parties knew it might happen.
We are not responsible for unforeseeable loss or business losses arising from commercial use of the community. This does not exclude compensation or other responsibility imposed by data-protection law.
Nothing limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
11. Account closure
You can stop using ApprenticeOne and request account closure at legal@apprenticeone.co.uk. Tell us if you also want to request erasure of particular information or content.
We may suspend or close an account for a breach of these terms, genuine safety or security concerns, legal requirements or discontinuation of the service. We act reasonably and proportionately and give notice where appropriate. Sections 3 and 7 explain age restrictions and appeals.
Closure does not automatically erase every contribution or record. The Privacy Policy governs retention. Terms concerning retained content, responsibility for earlier events and disputes continue only while relevant.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for changes in law, safety requirements, features or how we operate. We will not remove rights retrospectively.
For material changes, we normally give reasonable advance notice by email or a prominent site notice, explaining when they take effect. Urgent legal or safety changes may take effect sooner, with an explanation as soon as reasonably practicable.
You can close your account if you disagree. We ask for fresh agreement or separate consent where legally required.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers retain mandatory protections under the law where they live.
Disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. Consumers in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also use their home courts. Other court rights provided by applicable law remain unaffected.
14. Invalid provisions
If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue so far as the law permits. Any restriction or removal of a provision must preserve legally required rights and protections.
15. Related policies
These terms and the Community Guidelines set the community’s rules. The Privacy and Cookie Policies explain information use and choices; the Safeguarding Policy explains our response to safety concerns.
None removes statutory rights, makes optional consent a condition of ordinary membership, or permits unfair use of children’s data. If wording conflicts, it must be read consistently with those protections and applicable law.
