Anyone else finding their gap year a bit weird?

Finished my A levels in the summer and I’m working part time while applying again. I thought I’d be glad not to have revision on top of everything, which I am, but nearly all my friends have gone to uni and my week feels a bit empty outside work. Not regretting the decision exactly, just finding it stranger than I expected. Anyone else doing this?

I’m working and applying too. Having shifts helps because at least the week isn’t just waiting for emails, but I wouldn’t pretend the job automatically makes you feel like you’re moving towards what you actually want. I try to get an application done in one sitting when I have time, then leave it alone rather than keep checking it

It’s mostly the days off that feel odd. I’ll sit down to do something useful and somehow just end up checking the same few websites again

I wouldn’t make every day off about getting an apprenticeship either. I’m keeping uni as an option so I’m not in exactly the same position, but having a job and doing applications doesn’t mean you need to justify every other hour. You can still see people or do something that has nothing to do with your CV

yeah I needed that bit tbh. I keep feeling like a day where I haven’t applied or earnt anything is a wasted day

Are you only looking at degree ones? I’m not sure my grades are enough for some of the level 6 ones I’ve been looking at, so I’m checking level 3 and 4 roles as well. I’d rather keep a few routes open

Mostly degree ones so far. I’m not against a level 3 or 4, I’d just want to like the actual job rather than take one because I’m fed up waiting

Only just seen your reply. I pick a time to do the applications once I know my shifts rather than having them vaguely hanging over every day off. Doesn’t solve the waiting but at least I know when I’m dealing with it. The rest of the day doesn’t have to be an extension of job hunting
