Are the online work experience things actually worth doing for apprenticeship applications? I’m seeing loads of virtual ones and programmes that only take a few hours but idk if employers actually care about them. I haven’t got any proper work experience in the area I want yet so trying to find something useful to do now
I think they’re useful if you actually get something out of them rather than just collecting certificates. If you can explain what you did, what you learnt and why it made you more interested in that area then you’ve got something to talk about in an application or interview. I’d still try for in person experience aswell if you get the chance though
I put mine on my CV tbf
yeah thats what I was wondering. There’s so many that I could probably do loads but then I don’t want my CV to just be a list of random online courses
Exactly. I’d rather have two that you can properly talk about than ten where you barely remember what happened. Same with any experience really. If somebody asks what you learnt and all you can say is you completed it then it probably isn’t adding that much
They might also help you work out what you actually like. I was looking at tech, business and finance stuff at first and just researching/applying to different things helped me narrow it down quite a lot. So even if something doesn’t become a huge CV point it can still be useful for deciding what roles you want to go for
thats a good point actually, I’m still not completely set on one area so might just do a couple that look genuinely interesting rather than trying to stack loads of them
